About the Role

City Year seeks entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps members to serve as academic mentors—delivering hands-on support where it matters most. In this paid position, you'll work alongside teachers and fellow service members to help students stay on track, improve attendance, build skills, and achieve academic success.

What You'll Do

• Develop one-on-one mentoring relationships with students to support their academic growth and personal development
• Co-teach lessons and lead small-group tutoring sessions in core subjects with classroom teachers
• Provide homework support, assignment coaching, and attendance encouragement
• Collaborate with school staff and families to identify student needs and design individualized support strategies
• Participate in team planning, professional development, and school community-building activities
• Help create an inclusive school environment where every student feels valued and supported
