About the Role
As a Special Education Early Childhood Education Teacher in Dolton School District 149, you'll work with young students in pre-K through early elementary who benefit from specialized instruction and support. This position focuses on creating accessible, engaging learning environments where every child can thrive academically and socially.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and learning goals
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to support diverse learners in early childhood settings
- Assess student progress regularly using evidence-based assessment tools and classroom observation
- Collaborate with special education specialists, general education teachers, parents, and support staff to coordinate instruction and services
- Implement behavior support strategies and create positive classroom environments that promote inclusion
- Maintain detailed records of student performance, progress, and IEP implementation
- Communicate regularly with families about student growth and school-home collaboration opportunities
What We're Looking For
- Current, valid teaching license or certification in Special Education or a related field
- Certification or endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Knowledge of special education law, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504
- Experience working with young children with developmental delays, disabilities, or other learning differences
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, educators, and support personnel
- Commitment to inclusive education and culturally responsive teaching practices
