Join Acadia Healthcare as a full-time Social Worker in Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina. We're seeking compassionate, skilled social workers to support our patients and help build a thriving behavioral health hospital in partnership with ECU Health.

About the Role

This full-time Social Worker position supports the mission of our new 144-bed behavioral health facility, which brings accessible, evidence-based psychiatric care to the Greenville, NC region. You'll work across all shifts, meeting patients at their most vulnerable moments and helping them navigate the path to recovery through assessment, planning, and community-based support.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment and discharge plans
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to patients in acute psychiatric distress
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and teach coping strategies to inpatients
  • Coordinate discharge planning and connect patients to community mental health resources, housing, and social services
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members on patient care
  • Document clinical observations, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely in the EHR
  • Assist patients and families with insurance benefits, financial counseling, and entitlements navigation
  • Advocate for patient rights and participate in treatment conferences

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) or related field; Master's in Social Work (MSW) preferred
  • Current state licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or ability to obtain licensure within your state
  • Minimum 2 years experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance abuse treatment, or psychiatric hospital settings
  • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills with ability to work compassionately across diverse patient populations
  • Skilled at crisis de-escalation, assessment, and treatment planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proficiency with electronic health record systems
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to cultural competence, patient dignity, and recovery-oriented care
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, nights, and weekends
