Role Overview
Our client is establishing a retail division with ambitious plans to scale across multiple regions. As Director of Retail Development, you'll architect the strategic framework, operational processes, and growth playbook that will enable consistent excellence across showroom locations. You'll transform vision into repeatable systems that drive measurable expansion and results.
What You'll Do
- Design and optimize systems, processes, and operational protocols to support multi-location retail expansion
- Develop a strategic growth playbook that ensures consistency and operational excellence across all showroom locations
- Lead site selection, launch, and ramp initiatives for new retail locations
- Build and mentor high-performing retail teams, establishing training and development standards
- Monitor key performance metrics, P&L drivers, and market conditions to guide strategic adjustments
- Travel approximately 25–30% to oversee store operations, support launches, and develop regional teams
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Director, VP, or senior leader in retail development, retail operations, or retail expansion
- Track record of successfully scaling retail operations across multiple locations or markets
- Strong strategic and analytical capabilities, with demonstrated expertise in systems design and process optimization
- Solid understanding of retail P&L management, site economics, and location selection criteria
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills
- Comfort with frequent travel (25–30%) to support growth initiatives and regional oversight
