About the Role

As a Forest Ranger you will serve on the front lines of wildland fire management and conservation efforts across the region.

What You'll Do

• Patrol assigned forest lands to detect and report fire hazards, illegal activities, and resource violations.
• Respond to wildfire incidents, assisting with suppression, mop‑up, and rehabilitation using hand tools, engines, and aircraft support.
• Conduct prescribed burns under supervision to reduce fuel loads and maintain ecosystem health.
• Educate the public and local communities on fire safety, prevention practices, and responsible recreation.
• Maintain firefighting equipment, vehicles, and communication gear in operational condition.
• Assist with forest inventory, timber assessments, and wildlife habitat monitoring as needed.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in forestry, natural resources, or emergency management is preferred.
• Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean record; ability to obtain a Red Card (Wildland Firefighter Qualification) upon hire.
• Basic knowledge of fire behavior, suppression tactics, and incident command system principles.
• Physical fitness sufficient to perform arduous duties in rugged terrain and adverse weather.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with coworkers, agencies, and the public.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and extended deployments during fire season.
