About the Role
As a junior associate, you will work closely with experienced family law attorneys to assist on a variety of cases, gaining hands-on experience in all stages of litigation while developing the skills needed to advocate for clients in Texas family courts.
What You'll Do
- Conduct initial client interviews and gather pertinent information for case files.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Perform legal research on Texas family law statutes, case law, and procedural rules.
- Assist with preparation for hearings, mediations, and trial, including organizing exhibits and witness outlines.
- Manage case calendars, track deadlines, and ensure timely filing of court documents.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and answering routine questions.
- Support senior attorneys in settlement negotiations and client conferences.
- Participate in firm meetings and continuing education opportunities to stay current on family law developments.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in the State Bar of Texas or eligibility to sit for the Texas bar exam.
- Strong academic record with demonstrated interest in family law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
- Compassionate demeanor and sensitivity when working with clients experiencing emotional stress.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Organizational aptitude and attention to detail for managing multiple case files.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while exercising independent judgment.
