The Perry Group: Site Construction Manager 1 (Substation – 100% Field)

The Perry Group, a CDM Smith company, is hiring a Site Construction Manager 1 to oversee full-time, 100% field-based operations at a substation construction site in Custom House, Orleans Parish. This is an excellent opportunity to lead construction teams in a hands-on environment where your expertise directly impacts critical utility infrastructure.

About the Role

As Site Construction Manager 1, you will be responsible for day-to-day construction management and field supervision at our substation project. Based on-site full-time, you'll coordinate activities between multiple trade crews, ensure work progresses safely and on schedule, and maintain the quality standards that define CDM Smith's reputation in infrastructure construction.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and coordinate construction activities, trade crews, and subcontractors working on the substation site
• Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, reporting status to leadership and stakeholders
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, site security measures, and OSHA compliance requirements
• Conduct daily safety briefings and site inspections to identify and resolve issues immediately
• Document field conditions, work progress, and maintain accurate project records
• Coordinate with design teams, engineers, and clients to clarify specifications and resolve field questions
• Quality assurance of work performed, ensuring compliance with construction plans and specifications
• Manage material deliveries and staging on-site to support efficient work operations

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of construction management or field supervisory experience in heavy civil or utility work
• Familiarity with electrical substation or utility infrastructure projects strongly preferred
• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering is a plus
• OSHA 30 certification or commitment to obtaining it within your first year
• Strong leadership and communication skills to work effectively with diverse field crews
• Proficiency with project management tools and basic Microsoft Office applications
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform in an outdoor, weather-exposed work environment
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to make sound decisions independently in the field
