About the Role
As an Emergent Bilingual Support Teacher, you'll work directly with English learners in a middle school setting, providing targeted language instruction and academic support tailored to students at varying proficiency levels. This role requires collaboration with classroom teachers, language specialists, and school administration to create an inclusive learning environment where bilingual students thrive academically and linguistically.
What You'll Do
- Deliver direct ESL and bilingual instruction to middle school students, emphasizing English language development across listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Assess student language proficiency and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and proficiency levels
- Co-teach with grade-level and content-area teachers to integrate language support within core academic classes
- Develop and implement lesson plans that support academic achievement while building English language skills
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate student growth to families and colleagues
- Participate in professional development, grade-level meetings, and school-wide initiatives
- Foster a culturally responsive classroom that values students' home languages and backgrounds
What We're Looking For
- Valid Texas ESL or Bilingual education certification (or equivalent state certification)
- Demonstrated experience teaching English as a second language or bilingual students
- Strong communication skills in English and proficiency in Spanish or another relevant language
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
- Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
