Follett is hiring a full-time Campus Retail Team Lead at our Hartnell College Bookstore location in Salinas, Monterey County. This is your opportunity to lead a dynamic retail team, drive sales and customer satisfaction, and play a key role in one of the nation's largest campus retail operations.

About the Role

As a Campus Retail Team Lead, you'll oversee daily bookstore operations at Hartnell College, managing staff performance, customer service standards, and inventory while creating an engaging shopping environment for students and faculty. You'll report to the Store Manager and serve as the primary operational leader during your shifts, ensuring smooth transactions, well-stocked shelves, and a welcoming atmosphere that reinforces campus community and school spirit.

What You'll Do

• Lead and supervise a retail team, scheduling staff, mentoring associates, and ensuring compliance with company policies
• Drive sales performance and achieve store targets through effective merchandising, promotions, and customer engagement
• Manage inventory control, ordering, receiving, and loss prevention across textbooks, merchandise, and supplies
• Train and develop team members on point-of-sale systems, customer service protocols, and product knowledge
• Open and close the store, handling cash reconciliation and securing operations
• Address customer questions and resolve concerns to maintain satisfaction and loyalty
• Communicate with Store Manager on sales trends, staffing needs, and operational challenges

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of retail management or assistant management experience
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and coach
• Proven ability to meet sales goals and manage budgets
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Customer-focused mindset and professional demeanor
• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and retail inventory software
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and peak retail periods
• High school diploma or equivalent; college experience a plus
