Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical ICU

Join Hartford Hospital's Surgical ICU team in New Britain, Connecticut as a full-time Registered Nurse (RN). This position offers the opportunity to deliver critical care to post-operative and acutely ill surgical patients within Connecticut's premier healthcare system.

About the Role

As a Surgical ICU RN at Hartford Hospital, you'll work a 36-hour night shift schedule, rotating every other weekend and holiday. Located at 80 Seymour Street in New Britain, this role places you at the center of intensive surgical patient care, where your clinical expertise directly impacts patient recovery and outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Monitor and assess post-operative surgical patients in the intensive care setting
• Manage complex medical equipment, including ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring systems
• Administer medications and IV therapies under physician direction
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Perform nursing interventions for patients requiring critical wound care and recovery support
• Maintain detailed patient records and communicate vital updates to the healthcare team
• Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families during critical illness

What We're Looking For

• Current Connecticut RN licensure
• Minimum 1-2 years of ICU or acute care nursing experience
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work night shifts and rotating weekends
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
• Physical ability to perform essential job functions in a fast-paced ICU environment
