Anchorage School District is hiring a full-time School Counselor for the 2026-27 school year in Anchorage, Alaska. As a certificated member of our Student Support Services team, you'll make a direct impact on student success and well-being in our schools.
About the Role
This full-time School Counselor position serves students within the Anchorage School District through comprehensive counseling and advocacy. You'll work 185 contract days across 12 annual payments as a 1.0 FTE employee, starting August 14, 2026. This role is part of the AEA bargaining unit and offers a competitive salary based on your education and experience.
What You'll Do
- Provide individual and group counseling to support student academic, social-emotional, and personal development
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators to address student needs and remove barriers to learning
- Develop and implement prevention and intervention programs that promote school safety and student resilience
- Assist students with course selection, academic planning, and college and career readiness
- Maintain confidential records and communicate with stakeholders in compliance with district and state policies
- Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Valid Alaska teaching certificate in School Counseling
- Master's degree in Counseling, School Counseling, or related field
- Experience in student support, counseling, or related student services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to supporting all students and fostering an inclusive school environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse school communities
