Join Anchorage School District as a Paraprofessional Educator providing direct support to secondary students in our Special Education Resource program at Service High School. This full-time position offers meaningful work helping students with disabilities access quality education and build independence.

About the Role

The Special Education Resource Paraprofessional Educator implements specialized instruction and support for secondary students with Individualized Education Plans. Working 6 hours daily, you'll be a core member of the special education team, delivering evidence-based interventions and fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support aligned with each student's IEP goals
  • Implement classroom accommodations and evidence-based teaching strategies under teacher direction
  • Support positive classroom management and help students develop self-advocacy skills
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and communicate outcomes to special education teachers
  • Prepare instructional materials and organize resources that support learning objectives
  • Collaborate daily with special education teachers, general education staff, and support personnel
  • Build relationships with students and families that support educational success

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Genuine commitment to supporting students with diverse learning and developmental needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, educators, and families
  • Ability to follow IEP requirements and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Reliability, patience, and a positive approach to student growth
  • Ability to obtain district background clearance

Position Details

Full-time position (0.75 FTE), 9-month work year. Salary: $20.53–$21.40 per hour (T-10 schedule, depending on experience and qualifications).
