About the Role
This position focuses on developing accurate, detailed cost estimates for sophisticated structural projects across Orange County. You'll prepare competitive bids for bridges, concrete facilities, water treatment systems, wastewater infrastructure, and major transportation projects. Your estimating expertise will be critical to winning work and ensuring project profitability.
What You'll Do
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and construction plans to develop comprehensive cost breakdowns
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
- Research current market pricing and compile competitive bids
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams to refine project scope and cost estimates
- Review and optimize construction methods to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain detailed estimating records and historical cost data
- Support the bidding process from initial inquiry through proposal submission
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience estimating heavy civil construction projects
- Demonstrated expertise with bridges, concrete structures, and water/wastewater systems
- Strong technical knowledge of transportation and infrastructure construction methods
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications
- Ability to develop accurate quantity takeoffs from design documents
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across project teams
- Familiarity with California construction industry standards and requirements
