Commercial Counsel

Vertiv Group seeks an experienced Commercial Counsel to join our legal team in Westerville, Franklin County. In this full-time position, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of commercial contracts, optimize our contracting workflows, and provide strategic legal support to our sales and business teams.

About the Role

As Commercial Counsel at Vertiv Group's Westerville location, you'll take ownership of the complete contract lifecycle—from initial negotiation through execution and ongoing management. You'll leverage modern contract management platforms and AI-powered legal tools to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and scale our contracting processes without sacrificing legal rigor.

What You'll Do

• Negotiate and draft commercial agreements across diverse contract types, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, and service arrangements
• Implement and optimize contract lifecycle management (CLM) software and AI-enabled tools to improve process efficiency and standardize contracting workflows
• Partner with sales and business teams to address commercial concerns while protecting company interests
• Review, analyze, and advise on contract terms, conditions, and legal implications
• Monitor contract performance and compliance; identify and resolve issues proactively
• Build and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and precedent documentation for recurring contract types
• Support broader corporate initiatives including supply chain, procurement, and business partnerships

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and valid license to practice law in Ohio or willingness to obtain reciprocal admission
• Substantial experience in commercial contract law, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm setting
• Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and lifecycle management
• Proficiency with contract management software and familiarity with legal technology platforms
• Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal requirements with commercial realities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Keen attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
