Mesquite ISD is hiring a Speech Language Pathologist specializing in Deaf Education to join our Student Support Center team at Florence Elementary in Mesquite, Texas. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on students' communication development and educational success in a supportive school environment.

About the Role

As a Speech Language Pathologist serving deaf and hard of hearing students, you will provide comprehensive speech-language services aligned with each student's unique communication needs. Working from our Student Support Center with assignments at Florence Elementary, you'll partner with teachers, families, and administrators to support students' language development, literacy growth, and academic achievement.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of students' speech, language, and communication skills using evidence-based practices
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on communication goals for deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Deliver direct and indirect speech-language services tailored to students' educational and developmental needs
  • Collaborate with the Deaf Education team, classroom teachers, and special education staff to integrate communication strategies throughout the school day
  • Participate in IEP meetings, provide progress monitoring, and document student outcomes
  • Support communication strategy training for families and school staff
  • Maintain accurate records and reports consistent with school and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a CAPCSD-accredited program
  • Texas license (TSLP) or eligibility for state licensure
  • Knowledge of deaf and hard of hearing communication modalities, including sign language familiarity or willingness to develop this skill
  • Experience working with deaf, hard of hearing, or students with complex communication needs
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to student-centered, family-engaged practice
