Join Justworks as a Senior Software Engineer, Onboarding in New York City, New York. About the Role
We're seeking an experienced software engineer to own the onboarding experience at Justworks. As a senior engineer, you'll architect scalable solutions that guide new users through their critical first interactions with our platform, define best practices for the team, and mentor engineers as they grow their careers.
What You'll Do
- Design and build robust, user-focused onboarding workflows and systems
- Lead technical strategy and drive architectural decisions for the onboarding domain
- Collaborate across product, design, and operations to understand user pain points and translate them into technical solutions
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, establishing code quality standards and best practices
- Optimize performance and reliability of onboarding systems to reduce friction for new users
- Champion testing, documentation, and engineering excellence across the team
- Own the full lifecycle of features from conception through deployment and iteration
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in backend, frontend, or full-stack development
- Proven track record designing and shipping user-facing systems at scale
- Strong foundation in systems design, data structures, and software architecture
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth
- Passion for building intuitive experiences and reducing user friction
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams
- Commitment to code quality, testing, and operational excellence
