About the Role

As Senior Employee & Labor Relations Specialist at UIOWA, you'll be the go-to resource for navigating complex workplace challenges, fostering positive employee experiences, and ensuring the organization maintains strong labor practices. You'll partner closely with leadership across University of Iowa Health Care to resolve disputes, interpret policies, and build a supportive workplace culture while keeping the organization compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

What You'll Do

• Provide expert consultation to managers and employees on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, performance concerns, and workplace conduct
• Interpret and administer HR policies and procedures in a fair, consistent manner across the organization
• Conduct investigations into workplace complaints and grievances, ensuring confidentiality and thoroughness
• Support labor relations activities and maintain productive relationships with union representatives where applicable
• Advise management on employment law compliance, employee documentation, and risk mitigation
• Develop training materials and deliver guidance to leaders on best practices in employee relations
• Partner with the Senior HR Director on strategic HR initiatives and organizational improvement
• Maintain detailed records and documentation related to employee relations matters

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in employee relations, labor relations, or HR consulting roles
• Strong knowledge of employment law, workplace regulations, and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work across all organizational levels
• Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism
• Problem-solving mindset and experience mediating workplace conflicts
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR and leadership teams
