About the Role

As an Animal Care Technician II - Milker, you will be a hands-on member of the Integrated Dairy Facilities team within the Agricultural Research Stations. Working at the Arlington Dairy Research Center, you will help carry out the milking operations and routine husbandry that keep research animals healthy and productive in a regular, full-time University Staff position with the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled milking duties using established dairy procedures and equipment
• Provide daily care, feeding, and monitoring for the health and welfare of dairy animals
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe conditions in milking parlors and animal housing areas
• Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns to supervisors or research staff
• Support ongoing dairy research activities at the Arlington facility as directed
• Keep accurate records related to animal care and milking operations

Qualifications

• Experience or genuine interest in dairy operations, livestock handling, or animal care
• Willingness to work hands-on with dairy cattle in a research farm environment
• Ability to follow detailed husbandry and milking protocols consistently
• Physical capacity to perform the active, on-site duties of the role in Arlington, Columbia County
