Software Development Engineer II Full Stack – Business (Remote @ Colombia)

OfferUp is seeking a Full Stack Software Development Engineer II in a full-time remote position from Colombia. You'll own feature delivery end-to-end across our Business team's five marketplace verticals—Storefronts, Auto Dealers, Services, Rentals, and Jobs—building React frontends and Java microservices powering vendor operations at scale.

What This Role Involves

You'll drive products from concept to impact. Unlike roles focused solely on coding, you'll design the user experience, architect the backend, ship to production, and measure results through data. You'll partner with Product, Design, and Business teams to solve real problems for marketplace vendors and OfferUp's growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver features end-to-end using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Node.js, and Java across business verticals
• Own the full lifecycle: planning, design, development, deployment, measurement, and iteration
• Break down complex engineering challenges into concrete deliverables within timelines
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Data, Business) on feature implementation
• Lead code reviews, enforce quality standards, and mentor junior engineers
• Develop A/B tests and use experimentation results to guide shipping decisions
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and runbooks for your systems; participate in on-call rotation
• Create reusable components and services that enhance team velocity
• Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to accelerate development and code quality
• Become a subject matter expert in team sub-domains

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven ability to ship multiple features end-to-end with ownership and efficiency
• Strong full-stack skills: React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, responsive design; Java and microservices fundamentals; REST and GraphQL APIs
• Solid understanding of data structures and object-oriented design
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants in real workflows
• Commitment to code quality, testing, and thoughtful trade-offs
• Comfort giving and receiving feedback in code reviews
• Preference for shipping fast, learning from production, and iterating
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
