Western Arizona Council of Governments is hiring a full-time Volunteer State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Aide to provide counseling and information services to Medicare beneficiaries in Mohave County and surrounding service areas.
About the Role
Under the direct supervision of the Program Development Specialist and State Health Insurance Assistance Program Coordinator, the SHIP Aide will deliver individualized counseling and information services to help Medicare beneficiaries understand their health insurance options and navigate enrollment processes.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to Medicare beneficiaries
- Offer information about Medicare plan options, benefits, and coverage
- Assist individuals with health insurance selection and enrollment
- Explain insurance terminology and help clients understand their coverage
- Conduct outreach and education at community locations throughout the service area
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of client assistance
- Stay informed of changes to Medicare programs and insurance regulations

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain complex insurance information clearly and compassionately
