UNPAID VOLUNTEER – Principal/Senior Technology Officer (Artificial Intelligence)

Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) seeks a Principal/Senior Technology Officer specializing in Artificial Intelligence to lead technology innovation for this volunteer-driven think tank. This is an unpaid, part-time volunteer position with Blockchain & Climate Institute / BCI America Inc.

About the Role

As Principal/Senior Technology Officer for Artificial Intelligence, you'll provide strategic technical leadership for a global organization dedicated to deploying blockchain and AI solutions in the climate sector. This volunteer role shapes how our think tank applies cutting-edge technology to environmental challenges and climate action at scale.

What You'll Do

• Define and oversee technology strategy integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain innovation
• Assess emerging AI methodologies for applications in climate monitoring, carbon accounting, and environmental data analysis
• Guide architectural and technical decisions for initiatives combining distributed ledger technology with AI-driven solutions
• Partner with volunteer technical teams across the organization to operationalize technology recommendations
• Investigate how machine learning, neural networks, and AI frameworks can accelerate climate science and policy implementation
• Provide technical mentorship and strategic counsel on AI adoption and blockchain deployment

What We're Looking For

• Senior-level experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning systems, or deep learning applications
• Demonstrated expertise in technology strategy and systems architecture
• Familiarity with blockchain technology and its potential for climate and sustainability solutions
• Track record of building or advising technical teams
• Genuine commitment to leveraging technology for climate impact
• Strong independent work capability in a volunteer setting
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
