Ozaukee County is hiring a Senior Planner – Planning and Parks, a full-time, exempt leadership opportunity for an experienced professional ready to shape the future of public lands, growth, and natural resources in Washington, D.C.

About the Role

As Senior Planner within the Planning and Parks Department, you will direct the day-to-day oversight of the County's planning and geographic information system (GIS) operations. This on-site position carries an exempt pay range of $35.56–$45.44 per hour and places you at the center of long-range and project-level decisions that influence how the community develops and conserves its land.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive, park, and open space planning initiatives from concept through implementation.
• Coordinate farmland preservation efforts that balance agricultural priorities with development needs.
• Conduct environmental and natural resource analysis, reviews, and recommendations.
• Administer zoning for county-owned lands and evaluate land division requests.
• Manage and apply GIS functions to support data-driven planning decisions.
• Contribute to strategic planning that guides departmental goals and long-term outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in comprehensive, land use, or open space planning.
• Working knowledge of zoning administration, land division review, and farmland preservation practices.
• Familiarity with GIS tools and the ability to translate spatial data into actionable plans.
• Strong understanding of environmental and natural resource review processes.
• Sound judgment, organizational skill, and the ability to guide projects from planning to completion.
