Support Professional, Financial Aid – One Stop Specialist

Grand Rapids Community College seeks a dedicated Support Professional to serve as our One Stop Specialist in the Financial Aid office, based in Grand Rapids, Kent County. In this full-time role, you'll be the primary point of contact for students navigating enrollment and financial aid—delivering excellent service in one of our busiest campus locations.

About the Role

The One Stop Specialist manages day-to-day customer service operations in the RJF Hall Student Services area, supporting a high volume of student interactions. You'll work directly with prospective, new, and current students, guiding them through every stage of the enrollment and financial aid application process. This is a front-line position where your knowledge, empathy, and organizational skills directly impact student success.

What You'll Do

• Greet and assist students with financial aid questions, FAFSA verification, and application status inquiries
• Guide prospective students through the enrollment process and available funding options
• Process and review financial aid forms and documentation
• Maintain accurate student records and follow up on incomplete applications
• Provide information on financial aid types, deadlines, and eligibility requirements
• Collaborate with colleagues to resolve student concerns and escalate complex issues appropriately
• Support special enrollment events and financial aid workshops

What We're Looking For

• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to remain patient with high-volume walk-in traffic
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information systems
• Ability to communicate complex financial aid concepts clearly to diverse audiences
• Flexibility and willingness to support multiple departments within Student Services
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior student services experience is valued
