SUD Counselor

Mental Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a dedicated SUD Counselor to join our full‑time team in Malaga, Fresno County, where we provide compassionate substance‑use disorder services rooted in client‑centered care.

As an SUD Counselor, you will work directly with individuals navigating recovery, helping them build personalized pathways toward wellness. This position operates within a supportive, purpose‑driven environment that values people, culture, and continuous growth.

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine client needs and appropriate levels of care.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary teams.
• Facilitate evidence‑based individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance‑use recovery and co‑occurring mental health concerns.
• Provide care coordination, linking clients to community resources, medical services, and support networks as needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in electronic health records while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in ongoing staff training, supervision, and quality‑improvement initiatives to enhance clinical skills and program effectiveness.

What We're Looking For

• Current certification or licensure as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (e.g., CADC, LAADC, or equivalent) valid in California.
• Proven experience conducting assessments, treatment planning, and counseling in SUD or behavioral health settings.
• Strong interpersonal abilities, with a talent for building trust and motivating clients toward change.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems and a commitment to maintaining confidential, accurate records.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility and reliability.
• Commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and ongoing professional development.
• Reliable transportation to travel within Malaga and surrounding Fresno County areas for client visits or community outreach.
