Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure specializing in Platforms Infrastructure Engineering for our Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County office. This is a full-time role focused on designing, building, and scaling the core infrastructure that powers Google's global platform.

As a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure, you'll own critical systems that millions of Google users depend on every day. This position sits at the intersection of systems engineering and architecture, where your technical leadership directly influences how Google's platform operates at global scale. You'll collaborate across teams to solve complex distributed systems challenges, optimize infrastructure performance, and define the technical direction of platform initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Design, architect, and implement large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure solutions that support Google's platform services
• Lead the development of compute, storage, and networking infrastructure components that operate at unprecedented scale
• Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and launch coordination for infrastructure software and services across production environments
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, establishing best practices and architectural patterns for infrastructure development
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to identify performance bottlenecks and drive technical improvements
• Contribute to long-term platform strategy and architectural evolution

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating advanced software engineering capability
• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years of experience designing, building, or maintaining large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or technologies in compute, storage, or hardware architecture
• 5+ years of experience testing, validating, and successfully launching software products at scale
• Strong foundation in systems programming, concurrency, and performance optimization
• Demonstrated ability to operate at Staff level: technical vision, cross-team collaboration, and architectural influence
