About the Role
The Boys' Club of New York is seeking skilled SSAT and SHSAT tutors to work with students at our Flushing location. You'll deliver personalized test preparation instruction, helping learners develop the strategies and content mastery needed to achieve competitive scores. This part-time opportunity provides 4 to 20 hours per week of flexible scheduling, compensated at $35.00 per hour.
What You'll Do
- Assess student skill levels in quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, writing, and verbal sections
- Build individualized study plans targeting each student's specific challenges and learning style
- Teach test-taking strategies, time management techniques, and proven approaches to maximize scores
- Track student progress through practice tests and ongoing assessments
- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate their advancement to families
What We're Looking For
- Proven expertise in SSAT and SHSAT exam preparation and content
- Strong foundation in secondary mathematics, English language arts, and critical reasoning
- Prior experience tutoring, teaching, or working in test preparation
- Clear communication skills and ability to break down complex material
- Genuine enthusiasm for helping students succeed academically
