Discoverylandco is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team full time in Hobe Sound, FL. This hands-on leadership role places you at the heart of kitchen operations, supporting exceptional food quality and service for our guests.

Position Summary

As Sous Chef at Discoverylandco in Hobe Sound, FL, you will work closely with the executive chef to oversee daily kitchen production, maintain high culinary standards, and guide the line staff. You will help translate creative vision into consistently excellent plates while ensuring smooth service during busy periods. What You'll Do

  • Supervise prep cooks, line cooks, and other kitchen team members during service and mise en place
  • Execute and refine recipes, ensuring every dish meets established quality, presentation, and taste standards
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control to minimize waste and keep stations fully stocked
  • Monitor food safety, sanitation, and compliance with health-department regulations at all times
  • Support menu development, specials, and tasting sessions under the guidance of the head chef
  • Train new team members on techniques, station setups, and house standards
  • Manage kitchen workflow during peak service to deliver timely, consistent plates
  • Perform opening and closing side-work as needed to keep the kitchen organized and ready

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef, junior sous, or senior cook in a full-service kitchen
  • Strong knife skills, classical and contemporary cooking techniques, and plate-presentation ability
  • Demonstrated leadership experience directing cooks and coordinating kitchen stations
  • Solid knowledge of food-safety practices and local health codes
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining composure and quality standards
  • Reliable availability for full-time culinary shifts, including evenings and weekends as the business requires
  • Physical stamina for standing long hours, lifting, and working in a hot kitchen environment
