The Opportunity
Speechify aims to eliminate reading barriers for learning. With over 50 million users worldwide, our text-to-speech technology converts various formats into audio, enabling faster and more effective reading experiences. Join us as a Software Engineer focused on data infrastructure and acquisition in Hamburg, Germany. This role involves building high-quality datasets at petabyte scale through efficient integration of cloud infrastructure and research efforts.
Responsibilities
- Identify new sources of audio data and integrate them into our ingestion pipeline.
- Maintain and expand the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, currently hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Terraform.
- Collaborate with AI scientists to optimize cost-efficiency while enhancing dataset quality and scale.
- Work closely with other members of the AI team and Speechify leadership to drive innovation in data collection and processing.
Requirements
- A strong background in software engineering, particularly in cloud infrastructure management (GCP).
- Experience with Terraform for managing cloud resources.
- Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for data pipeline development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for finding innovative solutions to complex challenges.
