About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential health insurance organization seeking a Senior Statutory Reporting Accountant to join their expanding statutory reporting team. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical regulatory compliance initiatives in a fast-paced, growing environment where you'll play a vital part in ensuring accurate financial reporting to state regulatory authorities.
As the organization has grown significantly, this position will focus on statutory financial statement compilation, reconciliations, process enhancement, and a new business initiative centered on reinsurance accounting. You'll report to the Senior Statutory Reporting Manager and work closely with cross-functional teams to support regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory financial statements for submission to the NAIC and state regulatory authorities (Health Statement format)
- Compile all supplemental filings accompanying quarterly and annual statutory financial statements as required by state regulators
- Support Department/Division of Insurance audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and meeting strict deadlines
- Assist in testing and development of NetSuite reports and other ad hoc reporting tools to facilitate statutory financial statement preparation
- File statutory financial statements using vendor software, submit to NAIC and individual states while adhering to all regulatory deadlines
- Lead and participate in ad hoc projects supporting statutory reporting needs, with particular focus on reinsurance accounting initiatives
- Review certain statutory financial statements and supplemental filings as needed
- Work overtime during peak reporting periods as necessary
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Reinsurance accounting experience from implementation through reporting—this is essential
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex formulas and data manipulation
- Proven track record of success in a changing and complex financial reporting environment
- Dynamic team player who is highly motivated, self-starting, and customer-service oriented
- Strong attention to detail with consistent ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Analytical, hands-on approach with ability to contribute immediately
- Capability to independently manage multiple demands and competing priorities
- High ethical standards with commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite (ERP) and Workiva (Wdesk)
- Healthcare and insurance industry experience
- Experience reviewing statutory filings
- Exposure to AI tools for automating financial reconciliations, improving filing accuracy, and streamlining multi-jurisdiction data collection

Pay
Pay via Get A Job.ai will be determined based on your qualifications, experience, and the final offer from our client. The client has indicated a range of $80,000-$100,000 for this position, though actual compensation will depend on your specific background, skills, and location.
