Senior Software Engineer (Qodana Core)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential developer tools organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their core static analysis team in Berlin or Munich. You will design and implement sophisticated static analysis algorithms that help engineering teams detect security vulnerabilities, license compliance issues, and code defects within CI/CD pipelines.

In this role, you will have direct ownership over extending the static analysis engine and creating new inter-procedural code analysis capabilities. You will work closely with compiler and IDE engineering teams to influence how development organizations maintain code quality as AI-assisted development continues to grow.

Your day-to-day work includes:

• Design and implement new static analysis checks, rules, and inter-procedural analysis algorithms
• Extend analysis capabilities in security, vulnerability detection, and license compliance
• Optimize code analysis execution, configure analysis paths, and orchestrate performance based on project context
• Build and refine CI/CD integrations to enable seamless adoption across diverse development workflows
• Collaborate with compiler and IDE teams to share insights and align analysis approaches
• Own features from initial concept through release, gathering feedback and iterating to improve outcomes

What we're looking for

• Deep, practical knowledge of JVM development using Kotlin or Java
• Experience designing and implementing complex algorithms or performance-critical backend architectures
• Strong curiosity about code structure, compilers, and static analysis methodologies
• Proactive mindset with readiness to improve systems without waiting for direction
• Excellent collaboration skills with ability to support technical ideas through clear, logical reasoning
• Comfort working in distributed teams across different countries and time zones
• Focus on quality and long-term maintainability over quick fixes
• Fluent English communication skills for global collaboration
• Experience with developer tooling, static analysis, application security, or LLM-based applications is a plus
• Familiarity with languages and ecosystems beyond the JVM (C++, Rust, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python,.NET, or Go) would be valuable
