Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure - Compute Platform at Coinbase in Anywhere in the World (Full Time, Remote)
What This Role Involves
In this role, you will own the primary compute orchestration infrastructure that powers every service at Coinbase. You'll work with CNCF technologies like Kubernetes and Istio to design and ship tooling, automation, and net-new capabilities for hundreds of engineers. Your responsibilities include:
- Designing and building Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation to ensure reliability and self-healing at scale.
- Developing developer-facing tooling and workflows that integrate AI-driven processes and support for interacting with Kubernetes.
- Delivering net-new compute capabilities, such as one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, EFS support, and automated right-sizing.
- Partnering closely with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to raise the bar across the stack.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Owning the design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation that keeps our compute platform reliable and self-healing at scale.
- Building developer-facing tooling and workflows that improve how engineers across Coinbase interact with Kubernetes, with a heavy emphasis on integrating AI-driven processes and support.
- Delivering net-new compute capabilities for service owners, such as one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, EFS support, and automated right-sizing.
- Driving operational excellence through continuous improvement of our infrastructure.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on Kubernetes and orchestration platforms.
- A deep understanding of cloud-native technologies and practices, including Kubernetes, Istio, and CNCF ecosystem tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including Security, Reliability, and Observability.
