Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at Polaron, you'll lead the design, development, and delivery of critical software systems that power our products. You'll work across the full technology stack, mentor junior engineers, and drive architectural decisions that shape how we build. This role combines hands-on coding with strategic technical leadership, requiring someone who can balance shipping reliable software with building for scale.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement robust, scalable software solutions for complex technical problems
- Lead code reviews, establish engineering standards, and mentor junior and mid-level developers
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate requirements into technical architecture
- Contribute to system design decisions, technology evaluation, and continuous improvement of our engineering practices
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and technical debt
- Participate in on-call rotations and ensure production systems remain reliable and performant
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in at least one major programming language
- Strong understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and system architecture
- Proven experience with modern development practices: version control, automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment
- Experience building or maintaining production systems at scale
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
