About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential aerospace organization in Munich that is building critical defense capability in Europe. This is a senior-level manufacturing engineering role focused on design for manufacturability (DFM) in a high-performance hardware environment.
We are seeking an exceptional manufacturing engineer who will serve as the bridge between product development and industrialization. You'll work in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting where your expertise will directly influence design decisions from the earliest project phases through full production.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary interface between engineering and manufacturing teams, ensuring manufacturing-optimized design decisions throughout the product lifecycle
- Represent manufacturing perspective in concept development, design meetings, and design reviews; proactively identify risks and develop solutions
- Follow programs from development through full production rate to capture lessons learned and implement best practices into future design projects
- Develop tools and processes that accelerate time to market and improve DFM efficiency across engineering teams
- Recommend technologies and processes; initiate strategic competence development when required for program success
- Collaborate with vendors and equipment manufacturers to identify innovative manufacturing solutions; drive co-development for specialized processes and technologies
- Bridge detailed process design with factory-level thinking to ensure seamless integration into manufacturing systems
- Identify process-level risks and trade-offs early; drive mitigations through design modifications, analysis, or process changes
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation including drawings, specifications, and design justifications
- Act as a credible problem-solver in ambiguous environments, making sound decisions to keep programs moving forward
What We're Looking For
- Senior-level manufacturing engineer with hands-on expertise in manufacturing and assembly operations
- Previous experience in product design or dedicated DFM roles strongly preferred
- Background working on complex, integrated manufacturing systems in aerospace, defense, or similar high-performance cross-functional environments
- Proven ability to manage partners and suppliers effectively, motivating teams to achieve ambitious goals and timelines
- Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; willing to anticipate, test, and iterate approaches as needed
- Ability to operate at multiple levels of abstraction, from detailed design to system-level thinking
- Strong engineering fundamentals covering both process and product design
- Pragmatic and delivery-focused mindset; capable of making sound engineering trade-offs without over-engineering
- Experience collaborating across disciplines and acting as a technical integrator
- Hands-on instinct with willingness to support build, integration, and test activities when needed
- Calm and effective in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve
- Motivated by building high-consequence hardware where precision and system correctness are critical
