Senior Java Developer (Microservices – Hybrid)

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Java Developer to architect and build scalable microservices solutions that power our platform. In this role, you'll take ownership of complex distributed systems, drive technical decisions, and establish best practices across our development teams. Your expertise in Java and microservices design will be central to how we evolve our infrastructure and deliver value to our users. This hybrid arrangement gives you flexibility while keeping you connected to your Athens-based team.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy microservices using Java and modern frameworks
• Lead code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions for new services
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth
• Work with containerised environments and orchestration platforms to ensure reliability at scale
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs and event-driven systems
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Troubleshoot performance issues and implement monitoring, logging, and observability practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience
• Proven expertise in designing and building microservices architectures
• Strong knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, and related frameworks
• Hands-on experience with containerisation tools and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed databases
• Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
