Senior Financial Management Functional Consultant

CSCI Consulting seeks a Senior Financial Management Functional Consultant for a full-time remote role supporting Department of Defense financial system implementation and modernization efforts.

What This Role Involves

This Senior Financial Management Functional Consultant position blends deep federal financial management knowledge with hands-on functional analysis and systems rollout support for a DoD initiative. You will help translate operational needs into practical system solutions, drawing on expertise in data flows across defense financial platforms, GTAS processes, trading partner activity, DFAS operations, USSGL accounting, and Treasury reporting standards. The work centers on requirements definition, configuration checks, testing, process refinement, and smooth collaboration with stakeholders throughout implementation.

Your Responsibilities

• Collect, document, and assess business and functional needs for financial system updates and new deployments
• Partner with government clients, developers, and integrators to advance rollouts
• Review existing financial management workflows and propose system-enabled enhancements
• Contribute to configuration assessments, business rule checks, and functional design conversations
• Create process diagrams, use cases, requirements records, and functional specifications
• Examine financial data and outputs for alignment with GTAS, USSGL, Treasury, and DoD reporting rules
• Confirm transactions and reporting results from new solutions
• Aid trading partner reconciliation and resolve data inconsistencies
• Advise on DFAS reporting, financial statement needs, and audit readiness factors
• Help with data conversion, validation, and reconciliation during go-lives
• Design and run user acceptance and functional test cases
• Check interfaces, reports, and system-generated entries
• Log defects, assist resolution, and confirm fixes
• Support rollout planning, training materials, and post-launch activities
• Lead requirements workshops and stakeholder sessions
• Bridge financial management staff and technical teams
• Prepare briefings, status updates, and process documentation

Who We're Looking For

• Active Secret security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, information systems, or related field
• 3–8+ years of Department of Defense financial management experience
• Background supporting financial systems implementations, modernizations, ERP improvements, or process transformation
• Understanding of GTAS reporting, trading partner reconciliations, USSGL, Treasury Financial Manual, DFAS operations, and federal financial processes
• Experience capturing business requirements and supporting testing
• Creative problem-solving, strong client focus, solid organization and communication skills, and professional demeanor
• Preferred: Familiarity with GFEBS, DAI, DDRS, Advana, DCAS, DEAMS or similar systems; Agile delivery; financial integrations and data migration; FIAR or audit remediation work; CDFM, CGFM, CPA, PMP or Agile credentials; ability to work independently or in teams; relationship-building strength; adherence to data standards; eagerness to adopt useful new methods
