Position Summary

DigitalOcean is hiring a Senior Director of Data Center Facilities to drive strategic oversight and operational excellence across our data center infrastructure. In this leadership role, you'll manage critical facilities operations, guide capital-intensive infrastructure investments, and mentor a multi-location team. Your decisions will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of our cloud platform as we scale to serve our growing global customer base.

Responsibilities

• Direct data center facilities operations across multiple locations to ensure uptime, security, and resource efficiency
• Set facilities strategy and roadmap aligned with company expansion and technical infrastructure needs
• Manage capital budgeting, vendor partnerships, and procurement to optimize costs without compromising quality
• Build, develop, and lead high-performing facilities teams across different regions
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulatory standards
• Champion continuous improvement in facility design, automation, sustainability, and operational resilience
• Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to enable platform scaling and innovation goals

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years managing data center facilities, infrastructure operations, or related facilities leadership roles
• Demonstrated success leading multi-site facilities teams through significant growth or transformation
• Strong technical foundation in data center systems: HVAC, power distribution, cooling, security infrastructure
• Expertise in capital planning, vendor negotiations, and operational budgeting
• Natural leadership presence with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders
• Commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement culture
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or equivalent professional experience
