Senior Architectural Project Manager – Grocery Retail

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Manager – Grocery Retail for its Newport Beach, Orange County office.

The role is a full‑time position supporting the Client Programs Market team, which is based in Irvine, CA.

About the Role

In this position you will oversee the delivery of architectural projects for major grocery retail clients, acting as the primary point of contact while coordinating multidisciplinary design teams to meet program goals.

What You'll Do

• Lead the planning, design, and execution of grocery‑store renovation and new‑build projects from concept through closeout.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure profitability and on‑time delivery.
• Serve as the main liaison between clients, internal design staff, consultants, and contractors.
• Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including scopes, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify code compliance, and resolve field issues.
• Mentor junior project managers and designers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Identify process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices for retail program delivery.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of eight years of experience managing architectural projects within the grocery retail sector.
• Proven ability to lead large‑scale, multi‑site programs while maintaining quality and budget targets.
• Strong proficiency with BIM tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, plus familiarity with construction documentation standards.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with executives, store operators, and vendor partners.
• Knowledge of local building codes, accessibility requirements, and sustainability guidelines relevant to food‑service facilities.
• A bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field; licensure or PMP certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated capacity to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment.
