Principal Architect – Data Centers

Colliers Engineering & Design is hiring a Principal Architect – Data Centers for our Client Programs Market team, based in Shavano Park, Bexar County, TX. This is a full-time position leading the strategic design and delivery of mission-critical data center infrastructure for enterprise clients across North America.

About the Role

As Principal Architect, you'll lead the architectural vision for complex data center projects within our Client Programs division. You'll work across global and national building programs, translating client requirements into innovative, scalable infrastructure solutions. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with client-facing responsibility, positioning you as a trusted advisor throughout every phase of design and delivery.

What You'll Do

• Direct architectural strategy for data center master plans and facility expansions, from concept through construction and commissioning
• Lead multidisciplinary design teams, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, structural, and IT specialists
• Manage client relationships and stakeholder communication across complex, high-stakes programs
• Establish and document design standards that optimize performance, resilience, and operational efficiency
• Mentor junior architects and support capability development within the team
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance client competitiveness

What We're Looking For

• Professional architect license (AIA) or equivalent; data center or mission-critical facility experience required
• 15+ years in architectural practice with demonstrated leadership on large-scale projects
• Deep knowledge of data center infrastructure, cooling systems, power distribution, and resilience standards
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead teams through complex delivery phases
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders
• Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, TIA-942, ISO 27001) and building codes
