Highmark Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a part‑time position in the Progressive Care Unit at Forbes Hospital, located in Monroeville, Allegheny County. In this role you will provide focused, compassionate care to patients requiring intermediate monitoring while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Forbes Hospital serves patients who need a higher level of observation than general medical floors but do not require intensive care. As a part‑time RN you will contribute to a supportive environment that emphasizes patient safety, evidence‑based practice, and continuous learning.

What You'll Do

• Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor vital signs for patients with cardiac, respiratory, and postoperative conditions.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient status, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care when needed.
• Document all nursing actions accurately in the electronic health record, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and support staff to develop and adjust individualized care plans.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding disease management, medication adherence, and discharge planning.
• Participate in unit‑based quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control policies.

What We're Looking For

• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Preferred experience in a progressive care, step‑down, or telemetry setting; recent clinical experience is required.
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment.
• Proficiency with electronic medical documentation systems and basic computer applications.
