About the Role

As a Registered Nurse on the cardiac transplant unit, you will deliver high‑acuity nursing care to pre‑ and post‑transplant patients while collaborating with surgeons, cardiologists, and the multidisciplinary transplant team.

What You'll Do

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including hemodynamic monitoring, laboratory result review, and ventilator management.
• Administer medications, including immunosuppressants, inotropes, and analgesic agents according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Monitor for signs of graft rejection, infection, or complications and initiate appropriate interventions promptly.
• Coordinate care activities such as bedside procedures, diagnostic testing, and patient transfers to intensive care or step‑down units.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding transplant recovery, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
• Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Respond to rapid‑response and code‑blue events, delivering advanced life support as needed.
• Participate in shift handoffs, bedside reporting, and interdisciplinary rounds to ensure continuity of care.

What We're Looking For

• Active RN license in the state of Missouri or Kansas (compact license acceptable).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Experience in cardiac care, critical care, or transplant nursing is strongly desired.
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment.
• Commitment to patient‑centered care, teamwork, and ongoing professional development.
