Role Overview

As the Registered Nurse - Medicine (GMCH) with Whca in Fergus, ON, you will deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to adults admitted with medical conditions. Working full time on the medicine service, you will combine assessment, care coordination, and clear communication so patients and families understand their plan of care. You will partner with physicians, allied health colleagues, and the broader care team to support recovery, manage changing clinical priorities, and maintain high standards of professional practice near Fergus and the surrounding community.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients with medical diagnoses
• Administer medications and treatments according to orders, policies, and safe practice standards
• Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and responses to therapy, escalating concerns promptly
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, discharge readiness, and self-care strategies
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the clinical record
• Uphold infection prevention, privacy, and patient-safety practices on the medicine unit
• Support admissions, transfers, and discharges so care continues seamlessly across settings

What We're Looking For

• Current registration (or eligibility) as a Registered Nurse in Ontario
• Foundational knowledge of adult medicine nursing, including common acute and chronic conditions
• Competence in medication administration, clinical assessment, and prioritization under changing workloads
• Clear verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to shift-based, hospital-style workflows
• Commitment to continuous learning, professional accountability, and quality improvement in nursing practice
• Current basic life support (or willingness to obtain as required for medicine nursing practice)
