Public Works Engineering Inspector

City of Apache Junction is seeking a Public Works Engineering Inspector to join our team in Apache Junction, Arizona. This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing construction quality and regulatory compliance on municipal infrastructure projects throughout Pinal County.

About the Role

As a Public Works Engineering Inspector, you'll ensure that every phase of City construction projects meets established standards and regulations. Working directly in the field, you serve as the primary quality assurance resource for both City staff and contractors, verifying that all work adheres to approved plans, technical specifications, building codes, and permit requirements. This role is essential to protecting public investment and maintaining the integrity of Apache Junction's infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Conduct inspections at active construction sites across multiple project phases
• Review construction documents, plans, and specifications to establish compliance benchmarks
• Document inspection findings, test results, and site conditions through detailed reports
• Coordinate with contractors and City departments to address code violations or specification discrepancies
• Verify material quality, installation techniques, and workmanship standards
• Monitor adherence to safety protocols and permit conditions
• Maintain accurate records and inspection logs for project files
• Communicate inspection results and recommendations to project managers and contractors

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred
• Proven experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, or field engineering
• Strong knowledge of building codes, construction standards, and municipal regulations
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work outdoors in Arizona climate conditions
