The Opportunity

As Principal Carelon Research Biostatistician at Elevance Health, you'll lead quantitative research initiatives that inform healthcare strategy and policy. Your statistical expertise will shape how we understand healthcare outcomes and advance evidence-based decision-making across our organization. This full-time position is based in our Wilmington, Delaware office, with in-office collaboration and team engagement required 1-2 days per week. The balance of your time supports the focused analytical work that advances our research mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct advanced statistical analyses on complex healthcare datasets
• Lead research projects from conception through publication and stakeholder communication
• Mentor and guide junior biostatisticians and research analysts
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, and business teams to translate research findings into actionable insights
• Ensure statistical rigor and compliance with research standards and regulatory requirements
• Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and present findings to internal and external audiences

Who We're Looking For

• Advanced degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related quantitative field (PhD or equivalent preferred)
• Extensive experience designing and executing statistical analyses in healthcare research settings
• Proven track record of leadership and mentorship in data science or research teams
• Proficiency in statistical programming languages (R, SAS, Python, or similar)
• Strong communication skills for translating complex statistical concepts to diverse audiences
• Experience with healthcare data, claims databases, or observational research
