About This Role
We are representing a confidential personal injury law firm in their search for a Pre-Litigation Case Manager Team Lead based in New York. This is a fully remote position for candidates authorized to work in the United States.
Our client is a rapidly scaling organization that has experienced significant year-over-year growth. They are building sophisticated operational infrastructure to support national expansion while maintaining quality and accountability across all case management functions.
The Pre-Litigation Case Manager Team Lead will serve as the operational leader for a pod of case managers, overseeing day-to-day execution, case progression, and team development. This role bridges the case management team and legal counsel, ensuring cases are properly investigated, documented, and advanced toward settlement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate a team of 3–5 Pre-Litigation Case Managers, assigning workloads and ensuring consistent execution
- Manage a personal caseload of approximately 50 active pre-litigation cases, focusing on higher-value matters
- Own medical management metrics including MRI rates, advanced treatment rates, and diagnostic tracking
- Monitor case velocity and ensure files progress efficiently through each pre-litigation phase toward settlement
- Oversee medical record collection, documentation gathering, and case file organization
- Review case files for completeness prior to attorney escalation
- Handle client and provider escalations, resolving issues before they require attorney or operations manager involvement
- Use dashboards and reporting tools to evaluate team KPIs and identify performance gaps
- Lead onboarding and training for new case managers joining the pod
- Provide coaching and identify skill development needs across the team
- Surface operational improvements and process efficiencies based on direct case experience and data analysis
- Ensure settlements meet expected value targets relative to policy limits
- Maintain full accountability for case outcomes regardless of other departmental dependencies

- Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume caseloads in fast-paced environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience requesting, reviewing, and summarizing medical records and bills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently while collaborating with teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate
- Experience managing and developing teams within legal environments
- Background in high-volume or fast-growing law firms
- Familiarity with personal injury claims processes and insurance procedures
- Experience with case management software such as Filevine, Clio, or SmartAdvocate
