People & Culture Generalist

PressReader is looking for a People & Culture Generalist to join our team in Richmond, British Columbia. In this full-time role, you'll be the driving force behind building and maintaining a positive, engaging workplace culture whilst managing key human resources functions across the organisation.

What This Role Involves

As a People & Culture Generalist, you'll own multiple dimensions of our people strategy and employee experience. This position blends strategic people operations with hands-on HR administration, giving you direct influence over hiring, onboarding, employee engagement, and workplace policy. You'll report to senior leadership and work cross-functionally to ensure our team has the tools, support, and environment they need to do their best work.

Core Duties

• Lead recruitment efforts, from job posting and candidate screening through interviewing and onboarding
• Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, and procedures that reflect best practices and legal compliance
• Administer benefits programmes, manage employee records, and ensure accurate payroll coordination
• Design and deliver employee engagement programmes, team-building activities, and cultural initiatives
• Handle employee relations, including performance conversations, conflict resolution, and grievance procedures
• Support professional development through training programmes and career path planning
• Maintain compliance with employment standards and regulatory requirements in British Columbia

What You Bring

• 2–4 years of generalist HR or people operations experience
• Knowledge of Canadian employment law and BC employment standards
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust across all levels
• Experience with applicant tracking systems and HR information systems
• Demonstrated project management capability and attention to detail
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
• A genuine interest in creating inclusive, thriving workplaces
