The On-Site Interpreter (OSI) at Prisma International, Inc. will play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication between individuals with limited English proficiency and those who are English-speaking. You will provide real-time interpretation services in various community settings, such as medical facilities, schools, and social service agencies.
What You'll Do
- Provide accurate and unbiased interpretation services in a variety of community settings.
- Ensure confidentiality and respect cultural and linguistic differences.
- Adapt to different speaking styles and maintain clear communication.
- Assist in the development and implementation of interpretation policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, educators, and social service professionals to facilitate effective communication.
Requirements
- Bilingual fluency in English and another language, with American Sign Language (ASL) also a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in on-site interpreting.
- Certification in on-site interpreting from a recognized professional organization.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in using technology for interpretation services, including video conferencing and interpretation software.
