OC – Safety Support Associate [GRAVEYARD SHIFT] (JR 5645)

Join PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) as a Safety Support Associate on the Yale Interim Housing team in Orange County, providing overnight security and guest support for individuals experiencing homelessness during graveyard shifts (Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00pm–7:30am).

About the Role

PATH's interim housing programs offer low-barrier accommodations for guests navigating homelessness with complex health and social needs. The Safety Support Associate is central to creating and maintaining secure, stable environments where guests access case management services and work toward housing stability and community reintegration.

What You'll Do

• Build and sustain positive relationships with guests through consistent presence, active listening, and respectful engagement
• Monitor the facility grounds and buildings, conducting regular security rounds and documenting any safety concerns or irregularities
• Operate and maintain security systems, alerting staff to any malfunctions or suspicious activity
• Collaborate with case managers and contracted security partners to coordinate safety protocols and incident response
• Apply verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to prevent and manage conflicts and emergency situations
• Prepare written reports and documentation on security matters, safety observations, and guest interactions for program supervisors

• Genuine patience and empathy when working with people facing severe housing instability and multiple health or behavioral challenges
• Self-direction and teamwork ability—comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
• Sound judgment, motivation, and initiative in high-pressure or unpredictable situations
• Strong interpersonal skills and composure during conflict
• Capacity to juggle multiple responsibilities and changing priorities
• Knowledge of and commitment to HIPAA confidentiality standards

Preferred Experience

• One or more years working with vulnerable populations, in security roles, or with formal de-escalation or crisis intervention training

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

• U.S. employment authorization
• Valid driver's license and dependable personal vehicle
• Proof of auto insurance and vehicle ownership
• Ability to qualify for PATH's vehicle insurance coverage
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before hire
• Successful completion of tuberculosis screening, background check, and drug screening
• All education and experience levels welcome—no minimum experience required

Compensation and Benefits
