About the Role

As a Newscast Producer at WBAY, you will be the creative architect behind daily broadcasts, deciding how stories are sequenced, paced, and presented to inform and engage viewers across Brown County and the surrounding community. This on-site position with Gray Media puts you at the heart of a fast-moving newsroom where timing, judgment, and editorial instinct matter every single day.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and structure newscast rundowns, determining story order, segment timing, and overall flow.
• Write clear, accurate, and engaging copy for anchors, teases, and graphics.
• Coordinate closely with reporters, anchors, directors, and production staff to execute live broadcasts smoothly.
• Make sound editorial decisions under tight deadlines and adapt quickly to breaking news.
• Incorporate video, graphics, and digital elements to strengthen storytelling and viewer engagement.
• Monitor broadcast quality and ensure each newscast meets WBAY and Gray Media standards.

Qualifications

• Strong news judgment and a passion for serving local audiences.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce sharp, accurate copy quickly.
• Comfort working under pressure and managing multiple priorities during live broadcasts.
• Collaborative mindset and clear communication with newsroom and production teams.
• Familiarity with newsroom production systems and a willingness to learn new tools.
• Availability to work on-site in Brown County, including the flexible schedules common in broadcast news.
