About the Role
As a Municipal Law Attorney with Gpac, you'll serve as trusted legal counsel to Sacramento-area municipalities and public agencies. You'll handle a diverse range of legal matters affecting city and county operations, from governance questions to complex litigation, helping clients navigate both routine and high-stakes issues with confidence.
What You'll Do
- Advise municipal and public agency clients on governance, operations, and strategic legal matters
- Draft, review, and counsel on ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and policy documents
- Represent public agencies in litigation, administrative proceedings, and negotiations
- Address land use, zoning, planning, and development law questions
- Handle public finance matters, including bonds, debt, and procurement compliance
- Counsel on employment law, civil rights, and federal and state regulatory compliance
- Research evolving municipal law and communicate relevant updates to clients
- Collaborate with agency leadership, staff, and outside counsel as appropriate
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor and active license to practice law in California
- Significant experience in municipal law, government law, or public agency representation
- Strong writing and legal research skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Litigation experience and capability to manage multiple matters effectively
- Genuine commitment to public service and municipal governance
- Professional judgment and excellent client relationship skills
