The Opportunity
This full-time Middle School Art position offers you the chance to lead engaging art instruction across Meridian Public School District. You'll work with middle-grade students to develop their visual literacy, technical skills, and creative confidence. This role is an opportunity to build a thriving studio practice at your campus while contributing to a school culture that values self-expression, artistic experimentation, and the role of the arts in holistic student development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned art curriculum using diverse media and techniques
- Instruct students in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art practices
- Assess student learning through projects, critiques, and portfolio development
- Create an inclusive classroom that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and artistic growth
- Manage studio materials, equipment, and facilities to support active learning
- Participate in school exhibitions, community events, and interdisciplinary projects
- Communicate with families about student progress and engagement in the arts
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to department and school initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Art, Art Education, or related discipline
- Valid state teaching certification in Art Education for middle school level, or certification eligibility
- Proficiency across multiple art media and current pedagogical practices
- Strong classroom management and communication abilities
- Commitment to differentiated instruction and supporting all learners
- Experience teaching middle school students is preferred
